Hi!
My name is Ellis Simpson*. I am a Jew, born in Glasgow, Scotland. Apart from a year’s adventure in Australia, I grew up In Glasgow and married and started a family there.
I was a lawyer. It was a career that gave me an incredible array of experiences of life and how the universe works: from murder trials and jury speeches to high-profile divorces and multi-million pound litigation. From banking and high-tech projects to corporate acquisitions and disposals. You name it, I probably did it.
In the early part of this century, I made aliyah (emigrated to Israel) to fulfil a lifelong dream — my wife’s, not mine! However, I have no regrets about moving to or living in Israel. It was one of my smartest decisions. Life in Israel is wonderful. Here, I had a second career, working as a technical writer for a variety of businesses before finally retiring at the end of 2024. This website is one of my retiral projects.
Apart from family, there have been two other themes present throughout my adult life.
The first is gaming. My favorite leisure activity is playing games.
The second is luck. At the key moments in life, I have been lucky. It’s almost as if the Big Man Upstairs has been looking after me. (Thank you!) I’m also conscious of the sacrifices my ancestors made and the hardships they endured so I can enjoy life. To put it another way, I am lucky to be able to live my life as a Jew. For that, I am grateful.
Finally, because I don’t want to waste time policing comments, I have excluded them. If you want to get in touch, email me: s4simpson AT gmail.com.
[*But that’s not the name on my birth certificate. One day, I may tell that story.]
